Community Foundation awards $154,553 in spring grants

Stevens Point — The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin (CFCWI) has announced the distribution of $154,553 in grants to 34 organizations in Portage and Waushara Counties. The grants are aimed at enhancing the communities now and for future generations.

The CFCWI’s latest round of grants will support a variety of projects and initiatives, including:

Portage County Grant Recipients:

  • WW1 Veterans Park – Water Foundation Replacement
  • The Playhouse Theatre Group – Hear us Roar!
  • Friends of 2713 – 2713 Security Improvements
  • Riverfront Jazz Festival – 2024 Festival
  • CREATE Portage County – General Operations – Intern & Production Support
  • Stevens Point Area YMCA – Senior Population Lunch and Learns
  • Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra – Youth Symphony Orchestra Program
  • ODC – Better Together, Community Friends
  • Recycling Connections – Mattress Recycling Event
  • Stevens Point Sculpture Park – LIT 2024
  • Monteverdi Master Chorale – Programming Expansion
  • Focus Development Organization – EmpowerHer: Stitching Success and Business Growth
  • Junior Achievement of WI- Closing the Gap
  • Stevens Point Housing Authority – Parent Café and Homework/Tutoring Center
  • Golden Sands Resource Conservation & Development – Local Cooperation for Invasive Species
  • Midwest Renewable Energy Association – Centering Portage County in the Midwest Energy transition
  • National Inventors Hall of Fame – Camp Invention
  • Trinity Learning Center & Preschool – Security Upgrades
  • Boys & Girls Club of Portage County – Club Creates
  • Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum – Museums for All
  • Door2Dreams – Creating a house plan for adults with IDD
  • Healing Acres- Critical Incident Stress Management Training – Portage County
  • One Big Tent – Helping our Neighbors and the Working Poor
  • Portage County Historical Society – Building Collections and Community
  • CAP Services – Mental Health Navigation
  • Meals on Wheels – Meals on Wheels Food Delivery
  • The Salvation Army of Stevens Point – One-time housing assistance
  • Central Rivers Farmshed – Farm Fresh and Free (Farming for the Future Collaboration)

Waushara County Grant Recipients:

  • Waushara County Health Department – 2024 Waushara Run for Hope 5K
  • Saxeville-Springwater Volunteer Fire Department – Vehicle Extrication
  • Unity Recovery Services/Waushara SHINES – Operational Support
  • McComb Bruchs Performing Arts Center- Sleeping Beauty with the Missoula Children’s Theatre
  • North Central Conservancy Trust – Community Access for Suszko Ridge Preserve
  • Hancock Public Library – Library Addition
